Everything you need to know about Road Hero space saver spare wheel kits, compatibility, fitting and ordering.
Every Road Hero kit is engineered for a specific make and model, not sold as a universal fit. Each product listing includes the compatible model years, bolt pattern, offset and tyre size so you can confirm the fit before ordering. If you are unsure, contact us before purchasing and we will verify compatibility for your vehicle.
Browse the shop by your car make. Each make page lists every compatible model variant in a table, showing the year range, tyre size and wheel size alongside each kit. Find your exact model in the table and the correct kit will be right there. If your model is not listed, contact us and we will look into availability.
Space saver spare wheels are not equipped with a TPMS sensor. When fitted, your dashboard warning light will illuminate to indicate a sensor is missing. This is normal and expected behaviour. The light will clear once you have the flat tyre repaired or replaced and the original wheel refitted. Do not use tyre foam in a TPMS-equipped vehicle as it can permanently damage the sensors.
In an emergency, space saver spares can typically be fitted to any wheel position. However, some manufacturers recommend against fitting them to the driven axle. Check your vehicle handbook for specific guidance. As a general rule, if you must fit it to a driven axle, drive with extra care and have the flat repaired as quickly as possible.
Space saver spare tyres are rated for a maximum speed of 50mph. They are designed for temporary emergency use only. Drive carefully to your nearest tyre centre and have the flat repaired or replaced. Do not use the space saver for extended driving or at motorway speeds.
Space saver spares are intended for short-term emergency use, typically around 50 miles. Their purpose is to get you safely from the roadside to a tyre centre, not to serve as a long-term replacement. Once you have the flat repaired or replaced, stow the space saver back in the boot for next time.
Pull over somewhere level and safe away from traffic. Switch on your hazard lights. Loosen the wheel nuts slightly before jacking the car. Use the included jack to raise the vehicle, remove the flat tyre, fit the space saver and hand-tighten the nuts. Lower the car, then torque the nuts in a star pattern to the correct specification. Check the tyre pressure when possible. Drive carefully to a tyre centre at no more than 50mph.
Your Road Hero kit arrives pre-assembled and ready to store. We recommend checking the tyre pressure periodically, just as you would any spare, and ensuring all components are in the bag and in good condition. Store it flat in the boot well so it is ready when needed.

Every Road Hero space saver kit includes: a space saver wheel with inflated tyre, a car jack, a wheel brace, a locking wheel nut key and a carry bag. Everything you need to safely change a wheel at the roadside is in the bag. You do not need to purchase anything separately.
Yes. Every Road Hero kit meets and exceeds European safety standards and is manufactured to original equipment (OE) specification. These are not budget alternatives. They are built to the same standard as the components fitted to new vehicles from the factory.
Since the early 2010s, car manufacturers have been removing spare tyres from new vehicles to reduce weight and meet stricter emissions targets. Most new cars now come with either a tyre repair kit (aerosol foam) or run-flat tyres. The RAC reports that puncture-related call-outs have more than doubled as a result. Road Hero fills the gap left by manufacturers.
A space saver spare (also called a temporary spare or compact spare) is smaller and lighter than a full-size spare. It is designed to get you to a tyre centre safely after a puncture, not to serve as a permanent replacement. It takes up significantly less space in the boot. A full-size spare is identical to your regular tyres and can be used indefinitely, but is heavier and takes up more room.
